Helix Equine is an independent, ambulatory equine veterinary practice founded by Max Ling BVMS CertAVP PGCertVPS MRCVS, serving Northumberland and Newcastle.
Meet Max
After graduating from the University of Glasgow and a short spell as a locum vet at the university's equine clinic, I moved to Ireland for my internship at Fethard Equine Hospital in Tipperary. Fethard is an extremely busy referral hospital, caring mainly for racing and performance horses. It was there that my passion for sport horses and my interest in lameness and orthopaedics really took hold. I then returned to Northumberland to put that experience into practice.
Since then, I've spent the last ten years working across two of the biggest equine practices in Northumberland, building on the foundations laid in Ireland and coming to understand what reliable, practical veterinary care really means for horses and owners in this region. I am a Senior Vet at Newcastle Racecourse, attending race meets regularly throughout the year, a FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian, and I hold a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP).
